Raeda Sa’adeh (Palestine)

Raeda Saadeh is a photographer, installation, video and performance artist born in 1977 in Umm Al-Fahem, Palestine. She received her BFA and MFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, and spent one year as an exchange student at the School of Visual Arts in New York. She now lives and works in Jerusalem.

‘Woman’ is a recurring subject in Saadeh’s installations and performance pieces, where she is represented as living in a state of occupation. This occupation or ‘occupying’ force is resonant with the political conditions of her environment and how they impact her world both socially and personally.

Raeda Saadeh's photography, performance and video art has been exhibited widely in Europe and the United States. Her recent solo exhibitions include “True Tales, Fairy Tales”, Rose Issa Projects, London (2012) and “Adaptation, a Homage to Great Masters”, Rose Issa Projects, London (2010).

Her group exhibitions include Re-Orientations: Contemporary Arab Representations, European Parliament, Brussels (2008), No Man’s Land, GEMAK Museum, The Hague, The Netherlands (2008), In Transit, House of World Cultures, Berlin, Germany (2008), Biennale Cuvée, O.K Centre for Contemporary Art, Linz, Austria (2008), Infr’Action – festival international d’art performance, Sète, France (2007), an  About Time II, Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum, Aalborg, Denmark (2007). Her work was included in the Biennale of Sydney, Australia in 2006 and Sharjah Biennial 8 in 2007.
